The castle Disney copied. Neuschwanstein was built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria(1845-1886).This king who has achieved cult status in Germany is mostly known for his eccentricity and building fairytale castles. But more importantly he is known for his support of the grand master of romantic opera, composer Richard Wagner, who may never have produced his great works without such royal patronage.
