In the 19th century, gold was extracted from this river.Today it is a major adventure tourism destination.The world’s first commercial bungy-jumping site is near here.
This river was also featured as a movie set for the ‘Pillars of the King’ in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.
